![]() By Sean Higgins Recently prompted by the need for a special gift, I went to Ravelry in search of the perfect sock pattern. I had a yarn and color in mind, and was tickled to find it at my LYS (fate!). In my search, I came across a pattern I loved and had worked on in the past, but my socks had fallen victim to second sock syndrome. This time I was going to redeem myself and knit my perfect gift socks from this pattern. Yarn caked, I got down to ribbing business. At the first pattern row, however, it was another sock my hands were itching to knit -Cookie A.'s Monkey- a pattern that has been my perfect gift pattern no less than four times! It's a beloved pattern still going strong after 12 years. I’ve been knitting on them ever since and enjoying every moment of it. Do you have a favorite pattern you return to again and again? I want to hear about it! Hit me up at sean@knitchats.com or follow us on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. Teacher Tip: The German Twisted Cast-On over 2 needles is my go-to for nearly everything (including these socks)! It's fantastic for a super stretchy, yet durable edge. Hold your needles parallel to one another (points together) and treat them as one needle. When finished casting on, remove one needle and begin knitting.
