By Erin Rees As the warm weather approaches, it’s always a question of what knitting work can be done to produce comfortable, cool and fashionable knits for the summer months. I have recently been using Lily’s Sugar and Cream yarn in psychedelic ombre to make hand towels. The cotton is lightweight and absorbent while having a wide range of solid and multicolored options. As a fan of bright and playful colors, I chose psychedelic ombre, as it combines green, pink, fuchsia and blue in one strand. You end up with very brightly colored and festive towels that match a bathroom or kitchen with similar bright or neutral tones. This cotton yarn would also be great for summer bags or hats. It is a little stiffer than a typical wool or wool acrylic blend so it does not have the drape of other fibers, but the wide array of festive colors and the durability would make it a great tool for many types of beach accessories. So what are your thoughts on cotton yarn for the summer months? Do you have a favorite go-to yarn for your summer projects? What patterns do you think work well with cotton yarn? Please feel free to reply below and share your knowledge and experience with us!
